Chopping Boards
Are you looking for the perfect gift, or do you just love the look and feel of well made wood products? I feel the same and I founded Cloumann to create the best chopping board possible. Whether you select the personalised products or our standard boards, you will get the best possible product and the best experience. We only use end-grain wood in our wood chopping board, as this is more hygenic and better for your knives. We also only use FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) approved hardwood to ensure that our wood is sustainably sourced and managed. Finally, we work with maple and american walnut, two hardwoods that are excellent for chopping boards, in addition to looking good in your kitchen. If you are struggling with finding the perfect gift, buying a Cloumann butchers block is the right decision.

Founder, Cloumann
Cloumann makes the best butcher blocks and chopping boards. We use the best end-grain hardwoods, like maple and walnut, that are suitable for food and nice on your knives.
You order a chopping board on our website. There is a facility to order a custom board. Our website uses Shopify for the payment solution, so you can be sure that your payment will be secure. The product will be delivered in approximately a week after you order. You can use your wood chopping board straight away, just rise it under water before starting.
There is nothing to do when you receive your chopping board, it is ready to use. Just give it a quick rinse and you can use it straight away. Over time, your board might become a little dry, you can then maintain it by putting some Cloumann oil on it.
Most woods are not suitable for chopping boards, for a variety of reasons.
Oak is a beautiful, long-lasting wood, but its pores are too open, so it retains too much moisture if used as a chopping board or butchers block. This moisture might breed bacteria. Also, oak contains chemicals that are slightly poisonous to humans. So please don't order an oak chopping board, use maple or walnut instead.
Bamboo is another popular material for chopping boards. Bamboo is actually a fast growing grass, not a wood, and it too hard to use on a chopping board. Your knives will be dulled and possibly damaged, so this is not a great choice for chopping boards.
Olive wood is another beautiful wood, that you sometimes see used for chopping boards. It has a beautiful pattern and often a live edge, but the extreme hardness of olive wood will quickly dull your knife.
